Introduction to the Curriculum

The current premedical sciences curriculum serves as a revised premedical sciences curriculum developed in 2014 by Georgetown American University. The curriculum was developed to include the updated standards, topics and courses required to provide the core prerequisite skills and knowledge needed by students to function effectively in a medical degree program.
The Premedical Sciences program aims at preparing students for the undergraduate Doctor of Medicine program at Georgetown American University. It comprises of natural sciences, health sciences, and social sciences courses. The syllabus for each course and exams follows the MCAT structure.

The main objectives of the program are

Develop the knowledge and skills needed to enter into a medical degree program effectively
To provide the introduction to medical degree courses
To develop professional behavior and habits require of medical professionals
To nurture compassionate students with lifelong learning skills

Entrance Requirement

The minimum requirement for the premedical sciences program

High School Diploma
Exam
- SAT score
- CXC score – at least 2 science subjects, Mathematics, English and any other 2 subjects (Grades 1 – III)
- Other Commonwealth Countries – Equivalent to GSCE 2 Science subjects, Mathematics, English and any 2 additional courses with Grades 9 – 4 or A – C

Curriculum Outline

The premedical sciences program is a 20-month program conducted during five (5) terms.

On applying for the program the following documents must be submitted for review

Copies of High School Certificate and transcript
Brief CV
Personal Essay expressing your interest in studying Medicine
Passport ID Copy or any appropriate government-issued photo identification
2 Letters of Recommendation from professionals in the field of science who are aware of your interest in becoming a Physician
Certificate proving the knowledge of English language: TOEFL if applicable

The final admission process is an interview to evaluate students’ overall qualification for the program
